Questions, answered

Everything couples ask us, from pricing to dogs to confetti. If your question is not here, call us and we will answer it properly.

Pricing and payment

Do the prices shown include VAT?

All prices displayed include VAT and no charges will be made for using a debit or credit card. Sorry, we don't accept Amex.

Capacity

How many guests can you accommodate for the day and evening?

Wellington Barn can seat up to 150 guests comfortably for dinner within the main dining room. Tables can then be added underneath the skilling area within the dining room to seat 180. Capacity for the evening is 300 guests.

How many guests can I sit per table?

Ideally 8 to 10 on the round tables and 4 to 6 on our rustic rectangular tables.

Do we need to hire chairs?

Up to 120 chairs are included. More requires an additional charge.

Do I need table linen?

Yes for round tables, optional for rectangular. Discussed with your caterer and charged by them.

Visiting and holding a date

Can I visit at any time?

All appointments prior to or after booking must be arranged with the venue, and can be booked via the website on the Book a Viewing link.

Can I provisionally book a date?

Dates can be put on hold free of charge for 2 weeks, after which time if we haven't heard from you we will release the date.

Your ceremony

Can I have the ceremony onsite?

Yes. Wellington Barn is licensed for both indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies. Inside, the Old Barn can accommodate up to 120 guests, or the Yard Barn up to 200, but if you choose the Yard Barn you would have to wait for the room to be turned around for your wedding breakfast. Using the Old Barn means your reception room is ready with no need to wait.

Outside you can choose between the patio, the gazebo and the flower meadow. Numbers outside are not limited. For flower meadow ceremonies you will need to hire wooden benches as chairs are too unstable. We can arrange that.

How do I book my ceremony and registrars?

Please visit the Wiltshire Council website: wiltshire.gov.uk/registrations-ceremonies.

What is the earliest time I can have the civil ceremony onsite?

Civil ceremonies can start from 11am but we recommend a ceremony time of 1pm or 1.30pm.

Can I use confetti at Wellington Barn?

We ask that all confetti is biodegradable and used either outside in the meadow or in the Old Barn. No confetti cannons.

Music and sound

Can I use my own device for the ceremony and wedding breakfast music?

Any device with a headphone jack or Bluetooth can connect to and play through our sound system. We ask that songs are put into clearly labelled playlists and downloaded so the device can be put onto airplane mode. Please note we do not allow our PA system to be used for evening entertainment.

Can we have a live band?

Yes. We love this.

Can we have a dance floor in the Yard Barn?

Yes, but you'll need to hire one in, approximately £500 depending on size. We can arrange.

Do you have any noise restrictions?

No, other than no amplified music outside. Music on the patio is acoustic only.

Does the bar take card payment?

The bar is cash and card. We are unable to run tabs for guests. We can run a tab for the bride and groom upon request, but a limit must be set and payment is due at the end of the event.
