Introducing Emma's Kitchen!

Amber is one of our recommended photographers here at Wellington Barn, and has worked on a number of Weddings with us. As we approach the Summer, we asked her some questions about her business and all things cakes!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your Cake Business‍

Emma’s Kitchen, a Swindon home based cake business specialising in bespoke wedding cakes, Celebration cakes and smaller bakes.
I focus on creating elegant, modern designs that taste as good as they look.

What made you decide to go into baking?

My passion for baking started as a young age watching parents and Grandparents baking and cooking for their own businesses, then to go on to catering college, I did change route for a few years and went into managing retail, but soon started baking the children’s birthday cakes and the passion came back, then to go to win the Swindon Bake off competition really gave me the push I needed to make baking my full time career.

As we go into the Summer season, what is your personal recommendation for wedding cakes?‍

For spring/summer weddings, I always recommend lighter flavours such as lemon & raspberry, or elderflower, paired with soft, romantic designs – think fresh florals, textured buttercream, and neutral palettes. Semi-naked cakes are also very popular and look amazing in the Rustic barns.

Must-have baked goods for 2026?‍

Dessert tables all the way, They are becoming increasingly popular, so alongside the main cutting cake, you have items like cupcakes, brownies, and cookies. They add variety and create a lovely visual display for guests.

What do you love most about Wellington Barn?‍

Wellington Barn is such a stunning venue with a beautiful, rustic charm. The setting is perfect for creating those soft, romantic wedding aesthetics, and it’s always a pleasure to work in such a well-organised and welcoming space.

Top tip for couples when deciding on their wedding cake?‍

Choose flavours you genuinely love rather than what you think guests will prefer – it’s your day! Also, consider how the cake will tie into your overall theme and décor.
