Nicola & David – Thursday 9th September 2021

A real life wedding from September 2021! Our first of many blogs which will highlight just how special weddings at Wellington Barn are!...

After an impressive 20 years together, Nicola & David decided to hold their special day with us at Wellington Barn. Like so many, Nicola & David faced postponing their day from 2021 due to the pandemic, but it certainly didn’t dampen their spirits and excitement for the day!

On Thursday 9th September 2021, Nicola & her bridal party spent the morning of the wedding getting ready in our bridal room, listening to music, and drinking fizz – the atmosphere was relaxed, and Nicola remained the coolest, most composed bride!

The room was decorated by Nicola as well as the talented Becky from Event Style, a regular here at Wellington Barn who knows exactly how to complement our gorgeous venue. The décor was completed with some stunning centrepieces by Rosy Lea florist.

The ceremony was intimate, personal, and emotional, and it was captured beautifully by the lovely Jody Sutton

After the ceremony, the party certainly started with everyone being instructed by the couple to “have a shot” upon exiting the ceremony room!

Nicola & David then headed out to have some photos with their family and guests, as well as their four-legged friends!

After some mingling with guests and music from acoustic due “The Money”, Nicola and David were seated for their wedding breakfast. Nicola had arranged for a surprise for her new husband and guests – a singing waiter! After creating a small commotion to get everyone’s attention, the disguised performer from “Singing Surprise” got everyone up and singing!

Once returned to their seats the speeches began, all short and sweet but very touching, with stories only reiterating the love Nicola and David have for each other, and the journey they have been on to get them to their big day.

After cutting their cheese tower wedding cake, the party was well underway! Nicola made sure everyone stayed on the dancefloor after their first dance to make use of the props she provided for her photobooth!

After the wedding, our event manager Alice was lucky enough to receive the following thanks from Nicola and David;

“Due to the pandemic, we were required to change the date of the wedding and Keri and the team were supportive and incredibly accommodating with the new dates.

Throughout the last two years the team at Wellington Barn have kept in touch on a regular basis, providing us with information regarding a range of different wedding suppliers, recommending everything from seating arrangements, room layouts, timings, music, catering the list is endless.

Three months before the wedding Alice kept in constant communication and liaised directly with all our suppliers which took the pressure of us in preparation for our big day – we had waited 20 years to get married!

On the day of the wedding, the team were incredible from Alice sorting out my wedding dress and veil to coordinating meetings with the Registrar, entertainment, caterers, and organising the guests upon arrival.

We had one guest who is wheelchair bound and he was an integral part to our day and Alice ensured the seating plan accommodated wheelchair access and arranged access at the top table and access for outside for photos.

All this contributed to the best day of our lives, the individual attention, the service, the team, the beautiful venue. I can honestly say the whole experience made us feel like we were the most important wedding bride and groom, and everything was perfect.”
